Summer Learning Resources

NWLSD is excited to provide our families with summer learning opportunities for students.  Recommended activities and resources for grades PreK-12 have been collected and can be found at https://bit.ly/NWLSDsummer.

The activities are an opportunity for your child to remain engaged in learning during the summer months. Studies have shown that regular participation in summer learning activities provides structure for students, helps children stay engaged and focused, and can be used to polish the academic skills they learned over the course of the school year and minimize or eliminate summer skill loss.

This opportunity for practice is voluntary and will not be graded by a teacher.  Students can select any subject and grade level to access activities.

In order to help students with access to online summer learning opportunities students/ families that have already borrowed a district Chromebook will be allowed to retain that device for the summer months.

FAQ about Chromebooks

I have borrowed a district Chromebook but it needs a repair. How do I go about getting the loaner Chromebook I have fixed?

Drive-through technical support will take place every Wednesday, at the following two locations:

  • Struble Elementary: 9-10 a.m. (front entrance)

  • Pleasant Run Elementary: 10-11 a.m. (front entrance)

These days are for on-site repair and technical support for district-owned Chromebooks ONLY.  We will NOT distribute additional chromebooks during these times.

Families must also submit their technical support requests online where they will be able to reach one of our technicians at Chromebook Support Request Form.

I missed the Chromebook pickups offered in March and April. Is there a way to get a loaner Chromebook for my child now?

If you were not able to pick up a Chromebook in March or April, please contact your child’s building principal to arrange for a time to pick up a device.

I no longer need the district issued Chromebook (ex. moving out of district), how do I return it?

Please contact your child’s building principal to arrange for a time to drop off the loaner device.

My child is changing schools in NWLSD (ex. Going from middle school to high school), do I need to return the Chromebook I have now and get a different Chromebook from my child’s new school?

No, the district technology team wants you to keep the loaner Chromebook you have for now.  When we return, we will make sure the Chromebook is returned to the proper building.
